The death toll from the August 26 glacial collapse on the China-Nepal border has reached 1,325, with over 5,500 people still missing. In Nepal, where 1,294 deaths are confirmed, rescue operations intensified after two hydropower workers were pulled alive from a tunnel after nine days. International teams from India, China, Australia, and South Korea are assisting Nepali forces in searching damaged hydropower sites. Due to overwhelmed morgues, authorities have buried over 1,000 victims in mass graves after collecting DNA. Prime Minister Balendra Shah has pledged to provide stable housing for the displaced population currently staying in temporary shelters.
