Local disaster management officials in Puerto Galera have issued a health advisory due to thick haze originating from forest fires in Indonesia. The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office clarified that the haze, which resembles mist, contains high levels of fine particulate matter and pollutants. Exposure can trigger respiratory issues, eye irritation, headaches, and asthma attacks, with children, the elderly, and pregnant women being particularly vulnerable. Authorities advise the public to remain indoors, keep windows closed, and wear face masks when going outside. Motorists are urged to close vehicle windows and use air-recirculation systems. Additionally, residents should avoid activities that generate smoke, stay hydrated, and seek immediate medical attention if they experience severe symptoms like breathing difficulties or chest pain.
