Police operatives arrested a 38-year-old barangay councilor in Zamboanga City during an early morning raid on Friday, September 4. Executing a court search warrant in Barangay Putik, law enforcement teams led by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group seized an unlicensed 9mm pistol carbine, a .45-caliber handgun, ammunition, and tactical equipment. Authorities also confiscated 20 master cases of illicit cigarettes estimated at nearly 3 million pesos. The suspect was taken into custody at the CIDG office, while the confiscated weapons and contraband were secured for formal documentation and legal proceedings under national anti-smuggling and firearms regulations.
