A 25-year-old British national, Arudchelvan Karnan, pleaded guilty in Singapore on September 2 to harassment, unauthorized entry into a protected area, and causing annoyance while intoxicated. The incident occurred on July 20 at Changi Airport, following his consumption of an entire bottle of whiskey prior to arriving for a Scoot flight bound for Kuala Lumpur. After becoming verbally abusive toward airline staff at the departure gate, Karnan was denied boarding. He then pushed past a barrier, knocked a female ground employee to the ground, and forced his way toward the aerobridge. The altercation prompted a security guard to activate an anti-hijack alarm and summon the airport police. The injured employee sustained arm and wrist injuries, and the departure was delayed by approximately 45 minutes before Karnan was taken into custody.
