A 59-year-old businessman was arrested at the Daniel Z. Romualdez Airport in Tacloban City after security personnel discovered ammunition in his luggage. During an X-ray screening at the central security checkpoint, operators detected a magazine and 30 live rounds of .45-caliber ammunition inside the passenger's backpack. The suspect, a resident of Samar who was scheduled to board a flight to Manila, was unable to produce the required legal documentation to possess the ammunition. Following a manual inspection of his bag, airport police took the traveler into custody. He is currently being held at the airport police station while authorities prepare charges against him for violating the country's comprehensive firearms and ammunition regulation laws.
