The Ganga River has surpassed its previous highest flood level at Gandhi Ghat in Patna, creating inundation risks for low-lying regions in Bihar's capital. According to the state Water Resources Department, the water level climbed to 50.53 meters, exceeding the record mark by one centimeter, with forecasts predicting further increases. Persistent downpours in Bihar and adjacent regions of Nepal have caused multiple major rivers, including the Kosi, Gandak, Bagmati, and Ghaghra, to breach their danger thresholds across several districts. In response to the escalating situation, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary conducted an aerial assessment of the impacted zones. Authorities have been directed to support affected residents, manage ongoing relief operations, and closely inspect river embankments stretching from Buxar to Bhagalpur to prevent structural breaches and erosion.
