The state has registered over 4,000 dengue cases and seven deaths in recent weeks. Although Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari stated the situation is under control with cases halved compared to the previous year, political opponents condemned the minister's remarks. Critics, including former Rajya Sabha lawmaker Jawhar Sircar, highlighted the incident alongside an earlier controversy where Ms. Paul reprimanded a homeless mother in Kolkata.
