Union Minister Chirag Paswan has submitted a formal police complaint in New Delhi against Hindutva influencer Swatantra Bhardwaj. The action follows a circulating video where Bhardwaj claimed political protection and personal ties with prominent leaders, including Paswan, after allegedly assaulting the father of a student activist during a July protest. Paswan and his Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) firmly rejected any association with Bhardwaj, characterizing his remarks as an unlawful exploitation of the minister's identity. Calling for an impartial investigation, Paswan reiterated his backing for the victim's family. In response to the broader incident, Delhi Police updated the existing First Information Report against Bhardwaj to include charges of attempted murder, criminal intimidation, and offences under the SC/ST Act. A separate case was also initiated under the POCSO Act and IT Act over online harassment allegations.
