During construction on Utah's Bangerter Highway, workers recycled approximately 15,000 cubic yards of concrete directly at the project site. The three-decade-old material was crushed and repurposed to serve as the foundational base for newly designed highway interchanges. By processing the concrete on-site, the project successfully decreased the number of necessary truck trips and minimized waste sent to landfills.
