Ho Chi Minh City is expanding its transport network with multi-level interchanges to manage a vehicle fleet of nearly 12.7 million, which includes 11.3 million motorbikes. Key infrastructure projects, such as the Cat Lai and Tram 2 interchanges, utilize stacked overpasses, underpasses, and metro lines to separate traffic streams at major gateways. While some projects like the Vietnam National University interchange are already operational, others remain under construction. This includes the An Phu interchange, scheduled for completion in late 2027, and the unfinished My Thuy junction near the country's largest port. These complex engineering works aim to alleviate severe congestion on critical arterial routes connecting the southern metropolis to neighboring provinces.
