A startup named Operation Bluebird, led by former Twitter legal counsel Stephen Coates and other ex-employees, has launched a new social media platform called Twitter.now. The platform revives the original microblogging site's classic branding, including its blue bird logo. To combat misinformation, Twitter.now integrates an artificial intelligence tool named Vera, which is powered by Google's Gemini framework to verify post accuracy. The launch comes amid a legal battle with X Corp, which sued the startup in late 2025 over trademark infringement. Operation Bluebird argues that X Corp abandoned the original Twitter trademarks during its rebranding. While a judge noted that X Corp has not yet proven active use of the old branding, a final ruling is pending. Currently, users can access the platform by paying a one-time $20 fee designed to prevent automated accounts, with plans for broader public access later.
