Non-Jewish Ukrainian students are studying the Yiddish language in partnership with the New York-based YIVO Institute. Amid the ongoing war in their country, these participants seek to uncover and preserve the local Jewish history that was nearly wiped out during the twentieth century, a tragedy in which some local collaborators participated. Through this educational program, the students are also establishing meaningful cultural connections with Jewish communities in the United States.
